The Madison Chess Teams represented our school well last weekend at the Indiana State Chess Team Regional. The team of Jonah Reichenbach, Noah Shepherd, Isaiah Courtois, and Dane Koontz placed third overall, qualified for state, and earned another trophy for the trophy case. The team of Subbu Muthiah, Kaitlyn Evans, Claire Reichenbach, and McKale Hagg also qualified for state by placing 8th at the regional.

In the 3rd grade and under division, Madison is in a rebuilding year.  The team of Danny Moon, Carson Devanathan, Zach Evans, and Leigh Hertel placed 13th at regional while the team of Cole Koontz, Roman Hoffman, Jaron Courtois, and Matthias Kohrpilati placed 16th.

State finals will be on Saturday, March 19, in Hammond.

There's still time to enter the Checkmate Hunger Chess Tournament on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Madison Elementary School!  Registration is from 8:00-8:30 AM with a players meeting at 8:45 AM.  The first round begins immediately following the players meeting.

Cost is $7 for Warsaw Community Schools students & $10 for non-WCS students and adults.  There is a $5 discount for registering online and paying with Paypal http://chess.joepye.net/2015WFallEntry.htm.  T-shirts will be available for $10 and your name will be included on the back of the shirt if you register by Thursday, November 19th.  To preorder a t-shirt, include payment and sizing during registration.  

Spectators are not charged admission.  Concessions provided by A.C.T.S.

Any student interested in learning to play chess is welcome to attend Chess Club beginning Wednesday, September 23.  Students in grades 1-6 will meet each Wednesday morning from 8:15-8:55.  Parents, please note that students may not arrive before 8:15 AM.

FORMAT:  Students will be placed in small groups according to skill level and participate in interactive lessons.  Ample time will be allotted for tournament style play as well as fun activities.
